The Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested and paraded three individuals suspected of being involved in criminal conspiracy and vandalism.
The parade took place at the command’s headquarters in Lokoja, where the Kogi NSCDC Commandant, Esther Akinlade, provided details on the crimes committed in Ankpa and Isanlu, both in the Yagba East Local Government Area of the state.
The alleged criminal activities took place on the 7th and 20th of October, with the arrests made possible by a collaborative effort between security guards and NSCDC officers.
Akinlade shared that one of the suspects, Agbo Christian, aged 33 from Enugu State, was involved in the vandalism of armoured cables within the premises of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) in Ankpa.
The suspect, along with others currently at large, targeted the facility during the first of two operations.
Describing the operation that led to Agbo’s arrest, Akinlade said, “Agbo was arrested by the security guard guarding the premises during the second operation, which took place on 18th October 2024. The others, who are still at large, fled. Exhibits, including a saw, chisel, and spanners used for vandalism, were recovered from Agbo, who confessed to the crime.”
The second set of arrests occurred on the 20th of October 2024, when two more suspects, James Nifemi (29) and Ibrahim Jafaru (37), were apprehended by NSCDC officers.
The arrests were made in partnership with members of the local community in OFIN, Isanlu, after the suspects were found in possession of armoured cables stolen from a community transformer. “On 20th October 2024
