The National Universities Commission has approved the upgrade of Osun State College of Education Ilesa, to a University.
According to The Nation, this development would see the university re-named, the University of Ilesa, making it 220th university in Nigeria.
According to the Commission, the State Government’s request for an upgrade and their ability to meet the requirements for the creation of a new university or upgrading an existing institution led to the approval.
The provisional license of the new institution was handed over to the Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola by the Executive Secretary, NUC, Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, at the NUC headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.
