The National Youth Service Corps has accused the University of Calabar of fraudulently mobilizing 101 graduates for the national service during the 2021, 2022, and 2023 service years.
According to a statement from the NYSC management, 99 of these individuals were graduates, while two were listed for exemption.
The NYSC has declared the National Service certificates issued to these individuals invalid, emphasizing its commitment to ensuring that only qualified Nigerian youths, both locally and foreign-trained, who graduated from accredited institutions, receive the NYSC certificates.
The statement urged the public, especially employers, government ministries, departments, and agencies, as well as corporate and religious organizations, to verify the authenticity of National Service certificates, Exemption, and Exclusion Letters through the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja.
“Members of the public, especially corps employers, Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), corporate and religious organisations, multi-national companies, corps producing institutions and other critical stakeholders of the NYSC are to take note of this advertorial for prompt action.
“In addition, members of the public are also enjoined to confirm from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja, the authenticity of Certificates of National Service, Exemption and Exclusion Letters being presented for any purpose,” the statement read.
