The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig. Gen. Yusha’u Ahmed, has issued a warning to foreign institutions regarding false mobilization, emphasizing the scheme’s commitment to barring unqualified individuals from participating in the national youth service.
Ahmed conveyed this message during a meeting held on Thursday in Abuja between the NYSC management and several Corps Producing Institutions in Africa.
The gathering, themed “Tackling the Emerging Challenges in Mobilisation of Foreign-Trained Graduates For Effective National Service,” aimed to address issues related to the mobilization of graduates trained abroad for effective service within the country.
A statement made available to journalists on Thursday quoted the NYSC DG as saying, “It is expected that from 2024 Batch ‘A’ service year, collection of the master list of graduates would be extended to schools in Niger Republic, Cameroun, Ghana, and Uganda, which constitutes about 20 per cent of graduates from the African continent.
“The exercise will be extended to cover countries with high vulnerability to faking academic and travel documents.”
Ahmed emphasized that the NYSC was actively working to curb the actions of dishonest individuals, emphasizing that combating unethical practices within the educational sector required collective efforts and responsibility from all stakeholders.
