Veteran juju icon, Ebenezer Obey-Fabiyi, marked his 83rd birthday with an unforgettable celebration in Lagos, surrounded by loved ones, admirers, and notable figures who gathered to honour his enduring legacy.
The PUNCH reported that the event radiated elegance with a blue-themed décor, from the welcome banner to the intricately designed cake, setting the tone for a day filled with warmth and reverence.
Guests were ushered in with a touching display of the music legend’s photographs accompanied by heartfelt messages.
A standout moment came with the arrival of former President Olusegun Obasanjo and his wife, Bola.
Upon spotting Obey, Obasanjo lit up with joy, lifting the celebrant from his seat and pulling him into a dance, much to the delight of onlookers. In his address, Obasanjo shared his deep admiration for the maestro and extended his good wishes.
The celebration also saw the presence of renowned fuji artist Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate. His arrival was marked by respectful greetings to guests and a heartfelt gesture as he prostrated before Obey in traditional homage.
The two musical giants shared a warm exchange before K1 took the microphone to deliver his tribute. “K1 prayed for Obey’s continued success and health.”
Later in the event, the Ade Ori Okin crooner took to the stage, delivering a captivating performance in honor of the birthday celebrant, much to the crowd’s excitement.
