The Ogun State Government has announced a reward of N50 million for anyone who can provide information leading to the arrest of the perpetrators behind the tragic killing of its late finance director, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi.
Mr. Oyekanmi, a former Director of Finance and Administration in Governor Dapo Abiodun’s office, was fatally attacked by gunmen at the Kuto Flyover Bridge in Abeokuta on Wednesday, November 29.
The 51-year-old, in the company of two others, was confronted by armed assailants while returning to the Governor’s Office with a substantial sum of money withdrawn from two major commercial banks in Abeokuta.
Tragically, the assailants not only killed Mr. Oyekanmi, a chartered accountant from Ifonyintedo, but also made off with the significant amount of cash.
Expressing deep sorrow and shock, Governor Dapo Abiodun highlighted the devastating impact of the senior civil servant’s killing on the entire cabinet.
He assured that every possible effort will be exerted to ensure the perpetrators face justice.
In a statement released on Friday, the state government emphasized its commitment to bringing the culprits to justice and announced the N50 million cash reward for anyone providing information aiding the security agencies in apprehending the killers.
The statement partly reads “Ogun State Government has announced a reward of N50m for anyone with information that could lead to the arrest of the killers of the state’s Director of Finance and Administration, Mr. Taiwo Oyekanmi, on 30th November, 2023 in Abeokuta.
“Information provided would be treated with utmost confidentiality.”
