Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has declared the implementation of a N73,000 minimum wage for state workers, emphasizing his administration’s dedication to improving the welfare of the state’s citizens.
According to a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Ebenezer Adeniyan, the announcement was made during the gubernatorial campaign flag-off for the All Progressives Congress in Ondo City on Saturday, ahead of the November 16 elections.
Governor Aiyedatiwa noted that while the federal government recently set the minimum wage at N70,000, Ondo State will go further by paying N73,000.
“We have decided to pay N73,000 to our workers, going above the federal standard. This reflects our commitment to the well-being of our people,” he stated.
Addressing a large crowd of supporters, the governor urged them to turn their support into votes, ensuring the continuation of the APC’s developmental projects.
“On November 16, I urge all of you here and across the state to cast your votes for the APC to sustain the progress we’ve made. I see your support, and I do not take it for granted. The best way to show your love is to vote for continuity,” he said.
Reflecting on his administration’s achievements over the past 10 months, Aiyedatiwa highlighted efforts in agriculture, infrastructure, and rural development.
“We’ve made significant strides in agriculture and road construction, ensuring that farmers in rural areas can increase productivity. Over a billion naira has been allocated for land clearing and rural roads,” he added.
The governor also emphasized his commitment to improving security, healthcare, education, and youth empowerment.
