A fatal accident involving a mini truck occurred on Thursday night on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, resulting in the death of one person, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has confirmed.
The crash, which happened near the University of Lagos Waterfront area, heading towards Adekunle, involved a single vehicle— a fully loaded mini truck that reportedly lost control.
In a statement posted on its official X handle, LASTMA disclosed that its officers promptly arrived at the scene to manage the situation and ease traffic congestion.
“A lone accident occurred on the Third Mainland Bridge, near the UNILAG Waterfront, inward Adekunle, involving a loaded mini truck,” the agency stated.
“Unfortunately, one casualty has been reported. Efforts are currently underway to recover the situation, while officers are on the ground managing traffic to minimise disruptions,” the statement added.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released.
LASTMA urged motorists to exercise caution and maintain safe driving habits, especially on high-speed routes like the Third Mainland Bridge.
