Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, prefers joining one of his Premier League admirers over moving to Paris Saint-Germain.
The 25-year-old is poised to leave Napoli this summer, with Arsenal and Chelsea emerging as leading contenders for his signature, according to reports from Italy.
Initially, PSG considered Osimhen as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is expected to join Real Madrid.
However, Corriere dello Sport reported on Monday that Osimhen is uninterested in a move to the French capital, finding Ligue 1 unappealing.
Instead, he views the Premier League as his ideal destination, making Arsenal and Chelsea the favorites to secure his services for the 2024–25 season.
Osimhen, who clinched the Serie A Golden Boot in the 2022–23 season, renewed his contract with Napoli in December, including a release clause set between €120–€130 million, £101 million.
Recently, he missed the national team’s 2026 World Cup qualifiers against South Africa and Benin Republic due to an injury. After spearheading Napoli’s Scudetto victory in the 2022–23 season, Osimhen is now eyeing a new challenge.
Negotiating with Napoli’s president, Aurelio De Laurentiis, is known to be difficult, as he remains steadfast on Osimhen’s release clause. Nonetheless, the striker seems determined to move to England.
Arsenal and Chelsea have often been associated with the Nigerian international, but an offer exceeding £100 million may be necessary to finalize a deal with Napoli, who are unlikely to deviate from the release clause.
The Gunners are said to have cooled their interest recently due to the hefty fee involved.
With Osimhen pushing for a Premier League transfer over a PSG or Saudi move, this transfer saga could extend for months due to De Laurentiis’ firm stance.
