Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s triumph over Fenerbahce on Wednesday, netting twice to secure a 2-1 victory in the final stage of the Turkish Cup.
His outstanding performance ultimately sent José Mourinho’s team crashing out of the competition.
Osimhen wasted no time making an impact, breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute with a precise strike from outside the box to put Galatasaray in front.
The Nigerian forward then doubled the advantage in the 27th minute, confidently converting from the penalty spot to give his side a commanding 2-0 lead before the interval.
Fenerbahce responded just before halftime, with Sebastian Szymański finding the back of the net in first-half stoppage time (45+1’), offering his team a glimmer of hope.
Despite a late push for an equalizer, bolstered by substitutions, including Mert Yandaş and Kerem Demirbay in the 90+2 minute, Mourinho’s men were unable to break down Galatasaray’s defense, allowing Osimhen and his teammates to celebrate a well-earned victory.
