Operatives of Osun Amotekun Corps have arrested a 25-year-old man, Micheal Eze, for theft of nine air conditioners.
Eze, who hails from Ebonyi State, worked as a private security guard at the GRA, Osogbo before he was arrested.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the Amotekun Osun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi, rtd, in a statement revealed that the suspect was arrested on Monday at the GRA Osogbo around 7:30 am.
According to a statement by the corps Commander, Brig-Gen. Bashir Adewinmbi (retd.), the suspect, Micheal Eze, from Ebonyi State, was arrested after allegedly selling the stolen air conditioners to scrap buyers in Osogbo, Osun State capital.
“The suspect was arrested on Monday after the owners of the house he was engaged to guard in GRA, Osogbo, reported to Amotekun that their air conditioners had been stolen.
“After his arrest, he confessed to having stolen and sold the air conditioners, worth N400,000 each, to scrap buyers in Osogbo for N5,000 per one.
“The suspect equally confessed that it was not his first time stealing his employer’s property,” Adewinmbi said.
The Amotekun commander said two of the air conditioners he sold were, however, recovered from their buyers.
He said the suspect had been handed over to the Director of State Security Service for subsequent interrogation and prosecution.
