The operatives of the Osun State Police Command have arrested some suspects in connection with the recent rival cult clashes in Ilesa town, in the state
This was confirmed by the Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola.
Their arrest comes after the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke gave security agencies the go ahead to conduct special operations to fish out the perpetrators of the violence.
Reports had revealed that four persons were shot dead in separate incidents on Sunday at Imo in a beer parlour and on Tuesday at Sabo, Irojo Junction in the ancient town.
The incidents occurred as a result of a supremacy battle between the Eiye and Aiye confraternities.
The PPRO added that operatives were still on the trail of some of the suspected perpetrators of the crime.
“We are still on the trail of some of the perpetrators. They are fleeing but we are still on their trail. Normalcy has returned to the town.
“We have made some arrests in connection with the incident, but I don’t have the number of those arrested presently,” she said.
