The Palestinian health ministry, has reported that since October 7, 2023, the death toll in the Gaza strip has surged to 4,137.
The ministry, through its spokesman, Ashraf Qudra, while disclosing this on Friday stated the number of casualties continues to mount, with 13,300 individuals now confirmed as injured in the conflict.
While giving the reports, Qudra added that over 1,000 others are missing.
According to her, among those who died, at least 16 were Palestinian Christians.
“Seven hospitals in the Gaza strip are completely out of service due to Israeli attacks,” said Qudra as quoted by a Turkish news medium, Anadolu Ajansi.
The conflict in Gaza, which has been under Israeli bombardment and blockade since October 7, 2023, originated when Hamas initiated Operation Al-Aqsa Flood.
This was a multifaceted surprise attack involving rocket launches and infiltrations into Israel by land, sea, and air. Hamas stated that this incursion was in response to the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and escalating violence by Israeli settlers.
In response, the Israeli military launched Operation Swords of Iron, targeting Hamas installations in the Gaza Strip. They also increased their raids and arrests in the occupied West Bank.
It’s worth noting that more than 1,400 people in Israel have lost their lives in the ongoing conflict.
