The proprietor of a private school in Ibadan, Oyo State, Mr. Sunday Adeyemo, has allegedly vanished with the funds intended for students’ West Africa Examination Council and National Examination Council exams.
This shocking incident has placed the educational prospects of many students in jeopardy.
The alarming news was brought to public attention by the founder of Planet 3R, Adegoke Lasisi, who shared the story on Facebook.
Her post revealed the anguish of numerous parents who had gone to great lengths, even borrowing money, to ensure their children could sit for these vital exams.
However, their hopes were dashed when they discovered that despite collecting the fees, the school had not registered their children for the exams.
Adejoke’s post resonated with many, as she recounted her personal experience with a similar betrayal. Her younger brother had previously been a victim of such deceit, but with community support, her family managed to secure the necessary funds to re-register him for the exams.
Mr. Adeyemo’s actions have been seen as a deep betrayal of trust, especially given his long-standing operation of “The Lord’s Favour” school for over two decades.
Reports suggested that he had sold off his properties, including his home and the school, to fund his escape abroad, leaving students and parents in shock and financial hardship.
Adejoke concluded her post by asserting that while everyone has the right to seek opportunities abroad, it should not come at the expense of others, particularly when it involves breaching trust and endangering the futures of innocent students.
She wrote, “The full name of the man who JAPA with WAEC/NECO/JAMB money is SUNDAY Adeyemo. Owner of The Lord’s Favour school, AmuroIbadan. He co-founded Eternal gift school at lyere, Adegbayi Ibadan with his ex-wife before he misbehaved. The marriage sha ended.
