Super Falcons goalkeeper, Tochukwu Oluehi, has explained how the Nigeria’s side can beat the Banyana Banyana of South Africa in their 2024 Olympic qualifier in MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja.
Oluehi gave this insight into the squad while speaking with ESPN.
Randy Waldrum’s side are seeking a place at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The West Africans must defeat the current African champions to earn a spot in the women’s football event for the first time in 16 years.
South Africa have dominated recent head-to-head meetings between the two countries, winning three out of four.
“We just have to be aggressive,” she said.
“Take the bull by the horns, from the start to the finish. We have to be at our best. Everyone must fight for each other, everyone must help each other,” Oluehi told ESPN.com.
“We can’t relax and let them play. I remember at WAFCON in Morocco, what cost us against them was because we allowed them to play their game.
“It was in the second half that we stepped up our game but by then it was too late for us to come back. We can’t let that happen again, so we have to take the fight to them.
“From the start to the end, we will hunt them so that they can feel our own heat and know that we really need this qualification.”
The Super Falcons have incredible talents in every department, from goalkeeping to the attack.
Goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has been exhibiting exceptional performance for Paris FC in France and Europe, and at only 23 years old, she has the time to develop into one of the finest shotstoppers to ever come out of the African continent.
Tosin Demehin, Abiodun Deborah, Christy Ucheibe, Jennifer Echegini, and Gift Monday are all 23 or under and are already key members of the team.
The team equally has incredible weapons in its arsenal including experienced Asisat Oshoala, Osinachi Ohale, Toni Payne, Ifeoma Onumonu, and Tochukwu Oluehi – who is the only one to have participated in the Olympic Games with the Super Falcons in 2008.
The match will be played at 5pm Nigeria time.
