Some yet-to-be-identified passengers have been feared dead after a truck laden with container crushed a 14-seater commercial bus in Lagos State on Sunday.
The tragedy occurred at the Ojuelegba area of the state, inward Fadeyi, along the Ikorodu Expressway has caused a heavy traffic on the road and neighbouring areas down to Stadium and beyond.
Although the number of passengers in the bus remained unknown, videos circulating on social media showed people in the crushed yellow bus.
The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the development in a statement on its Twitter page.
According to LASTMA, “effort is currently being made towards rescue and evacuation.”
There have been reactions since the news was posted on the official Twitter page of the LASTMA.
A number of comments emphasised on the fact that it was not the first time this kind of accident would happen in that vicinity.
@Akadazzle1 said, “Isn’t it strange that with all the container accidents at Ojuelegba,none has ever been captured on camera including the one that missed my 1st son over 5yrs ago? Meanwhile there is a big police station,a federal fire,a major bank,a major hospital overlooking the bridge. Shame”
Another user Oluwatoyin Ibitoye, said, “This is the 978564321th time this will be happening. Can’t there be a permanent stop to it?”
