The Presidential Candidate of the Labour Party in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has expressed sadness over the reports of a fire incident at Powerline Market, Aba in Abia State, which destroyed goods worth millions of Naira.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Obi said the fire incident is more painful considering the very challenging economic times that the nation is currently passing through.
He sympathised with the victims of the unfortunate fire incident and all the tradersin that market who have suffered losses.
He wrote, “I am saddened by the reports of a fire incident at Powerline Market, Aba, Abia State, which destroyed goods worth millions of Naira. Sad occurrences like this become even more painful when you consider the very challenging economic times that the nation is currently passing through.
“I sincerely sympathise with the victims of this unfortunate fire incident and all the traders at that market who have suffered losses.
“I urge the relevant agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and ascertain the cause of the fire to help prevent future occurrences. I also encourage the state government and concerned persons and institutions to come to the aid of the victims and help them get back on their feet. -PO”
