The National Emergency Management Agency has provided relief materials to stranded Nigerians, in the war-torn Sudan, awaiting evacuation.
Recall that, the first batch of evacuees from Sudan arrived Abuja, Nigeria on Wednesday night.
The Agency was quoted to have announced that, “First batch of 376 Nigerians stranded in war torn Sudan and evacuated back home by the Federal Government arrived Abuja wednesday night at about 11:30pm.
“They were airlifted from Aswan in Egypt onboard NAF C-130 and Airpeace airline.”
Even with 376 evacuees, there are still Nigerians left to be evacuated and the Federal Government of Nigeria, the government of Egypt, the Nigerian Embassy in Sudan and NEMA are doing they can to get every Nigerian back to the country safely.
NEMA, on Friday, distributed food and water to these remaining Nigerians in Sudan to succor them while they await their evacuation.
Pictures from this incidence were shared on the agency’s Twitter handle on Saturday, showing the distribution.
The pictures were captioned, “Food & water being distributed by NEMA officials to stranded Nigerians at Wadi Halfa border crossing at Sudan-Egypt border where they are awaiting evacuation back home to Nigeria.
“Aircrafts have been provided to airlift them in continuation of the evacuation.”
