A talented wigmaker from Nigeria, Helen Williams, achieved a remarkable feat by crafting the world’s longest handmade wig in July 2023, measuring an impressive 351.28 meters (1,152 feet 5 inches).
The incredible creation by Helen entailed an 11-day endeavor, along with an investment exceeding two million naira (£2,031; $2,493).
According to GWR, her meticulous crafting process involved fashioning the base using wig-cap netting and black fabric secured to a bicycle helmet.
Subsequently, she meticulously assembled the hairpiece, utilizing an astonishing array of materials: 1,000 bundles of hair, 12 cans of hair spray, 35 tubes of hair glue, and an impressive 6,250 hair clips.
Reflecting on the arduous task, Helen expressed, “Finding the materials to make the longest wig was not an easy task. My experience as a wigmaker helped a lot.”
This extraordinary achievement was officially recognized and confirmed by Guinness World Records, cementing Helen Williams’ name in the annals of wigmaking history for her exceptional dedication and skill in creating the world’s longest handmade wig.
