Some creative Nigerians appeared to have taken proactive measures ahead of the Central Bank of Nigeria to redesign the N1000, N500, N200 and N100 notes.
The CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, disclosed that the current Naira notes will cease to be legal tender in a matter of weeks as the redesigned notes would replace them.
However, without further ado, Nigerians on Twitter made an attempt to ease the CBN workload and fast-track the deadline by redesigning the naira notes and this time with faces the young generation of Nigeria can relate with.
On the redesigned ‘audio’ Naira notes, popular actor, Osita Iheme and skit maker, Oga Sabinu, appeared on the N1000 note, while comedian, Lasisi Elenu, appeared on the N500 note.
The N200 note had the hilarious face of comic actor and activist, Mr Macaroni and lastly, Portable, also know as ‘Street Wahala’ was positioned on the N100 note.
Meanwhile, the redesigned notes, according to Emefiele, will go into circulation on December 15, 2022, while the current naira notes remain valid until January 20, 2023.
