Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his Imo State Counterpart, Hope Uzodimma, met on Friday at the state house in Lagos State.
The two governors met to discuss the demolition of shops owned by Igbo traders in the popular Alaba Market located in the Ojo area of the state.
In a statement issued by Uzodimma through his official Twitter account, he stated that a technical committee has been formed to address the issues raised by the traders.
He also commended Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to the safety of all Lagosians, irrespective of their tribe.
“The meeting was quite productive as the Governor assured that no policy or programme will ever be designed against the Igbos or any other tribe. I am delighted that he swiftly constituted a Technical Committee to resolve issues raised by our people.
“On this note, I commended His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for the audience and avowed commitment to guaranteeing continued safety for all Igbos and other ethnic nationalities in the State.
“We have sustained peaceful coexistence in our region, the South East, with other ethnic nationals, and our cohabitation across the nation should be reciprocated with peaceful coexistence, the Governor reassured.
“I therefore encouraged our people in Lagos State to go about their normal lawful endeavours, for Nigeria belongs to all of us, and together, we shall continue to build it,” he stated.
