The Chief Executive Officer of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, was on Tuesday photographed engaging in training sessions with UFC champions Israel Adesanya and Alexander Volkanovski.
The photograph of his training session alongside UFC champions has intensified speculation regarding a potential fight for a mixed martial arts bout between him and the CEO of Twitter, Elon Musk.
The potential Mixed Martial Arts match between the technology experts originated from an online exchange several weeks ago.
Tension has increased between Zuckerberg and his counterpart following the release of Threads, an app similar to Twitter.
Threads debuted on July 5, 2023, and has since accumulated over 100 million members globally.
Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, feels Threads was only made feasible through “cheating.”
Musk claimed this in response to a tweet saying that Twitter was threatening to sue Facebook and Instagram’s parent company Meta on Friday, July 7, 2023 for cheating with its new app Threads. Musk stated on Twitter, “Competition is fine, but cheating is not.”
As online debate over the new app heated up, the two tech titans revived their joking challenge to have a cage fight.
While some saw the challenge for an MMA bout as playful banter between the important people, the excitement surrounding this improbable showdown grew as both of them were photographed practising with MMA fighters.
Meanwhile, Zuckerberg while reacting to his picture with the UFC champions – Adesanya and Volkanovski wrote, “It’s an honour to train with you guys!”
Responding, “The Last Stylebender’ who posted photos of the training session, wrote, “No fugazi with Mark. This is Serious Business.”
Also, Volkanovski, the UFC featherweight kingpin responded, “@zuck you’re a beast! Always great to catch up.”
On Tuesday, July 3, 2023, Musk was also seen with UFC legend Georges St-Pierre, suggesting that he may already be in a training session.
