The Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, Peter Obi, has called the federal government to urgently address the rising state insecurity in the nation.
He stated this during his visit to the internally displaced persons in Bokkos and Barkin-ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau State where armed men attacked on Christmas Eve.
Obi, accompanied by party officials from the state, pledged 5 million naira to each local government area of Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi, where displaced persons are currently seeking refuge.
Expressing dismay and condemning the attacks that resulted in loss of lives and property, Obi emphasized the government’s responsibility to protect lives and property.
He voiced concern about the growing number of displaced Nigerians within their own country, deeming it unacceptable and urging government intervention.
On Christmas Eve, gunmen attacked over 15 communities in Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of the state, resulting in the tragic deaths of more than 190 people.
