The Lagos State Police Command has arrested and detained the renowned musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, on Tuesday.
Spokesperson for the State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the arrest.
Portable’s arrest stemmed from his failure to settle a debt incurred during the purchase of a G-Wagon from a car dealer in the state.
Despite only paying N13 million of the N27 million for the vehicle, Portable has refused to pay the remaining N14 million.
Whenever the car dealer requested payment of the balance, Portable claimed that the vehicle was in poor condition.
Following numerous unsuccessful attempts to collect the outstanding amount, the car dealer reported the matter to the police.
As a result, law enforcement officers were tasked with investigating the case and subsequently arrested Portable.
Speaking further on the incident, Hundeyin, said, “Yes, Portable has been arrested. He bought a G-Wagon for N27 million, paid N13 million, and refused to pay the rest, claiming the vehicle was bad. We arrested him today.”
