The Operatives from the Katsina State Police Command have thwarted two separate bandit attacks, rescuing five kidnapped victims and neutralizing two kidnappers.
According to The PUNCH, this information was revealed by the command’s Spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, in a press release provided to the Punch on Monday.
Sadiq explained that the police received an emergency call on Sunday about a bandit assault on Layin Minister Village, Malumfashi LGA. During the attack, five individuals were abducted.
Sadiq reported, “On August 25, 2024, at about 1000 hrs, a distress call was received at the Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters about a bandit attack on Layin Minister Village, Malumfashi LGA, kidnapping five (5) people.”
He added, “Upon receipt of the report, operatives were quickly mobilised and dispatched to the scene. On noticing the presence of the police, the hoodlums opened fire on the operatives which they responded gallantly.”
The kidnapped victims were successfully rescued without injury, while the assailants, who sustained varying degrees of bullet wounds, fled the scene.
Later on the same day, at approximately 1740 hrs, the Malumfashi Divisional Police Headquarters received another distress call.
This report indicated that armed bandits on twelve motorcycles, armed with dangerous weapons and taking advantage of the rain, attacked Marabar Kankara village, Malumfashi LGA.
Sadiq explained, “On receipt of the information, DPO Malumfashi swiftly mobilized security operatives, who rushed to the scene and gallantly engaged the hoodlums in a fierce gun duel and successfully foiled the attack.”
In the aftermath, the bodies of two neutralized bandits were found, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects as an investigation is underway.
The state police Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Musa, praised the bravery of the operatives and reaffirmed the Command’s dedication to improving security in the state.
