Federal Capital Territory Police Command on Wednesday dentified the male cross-dresser who was found deceased along the Katampe-Mabushi expressway on August 8, 2024.
The deceased has been named Ifeanyi-Chukwu Ajah Benedict.
In a statement, Spokesperson for the FCT Command, SP Josephine Adeh, provided details about the investigation.
She said, “Sequel to a case of culpable homicide and discovery of an unidentified male corpse earlier mistaken for a female on August 8, 2024, the operatives of the FCT Command have begun a discreet investigation as ordered by the Commissioner of Police FCT, CP Benneth Igweh.”
Adeh revealed that the deceased was identified as Ifeanyi Chukwu-Agah Benedict, a 33-year-old from Afikpo North Local Government Area in Ebonyi State, who was residing in the Dapé area of Karmo, Abuja.
The police have contacted the deceased’s family, who are assisting with the investigation.
She added, “Further development will be communicated in due course.”
Previously, on August 8, 2024, early in the morning, a distress call was received by the Command Control Room at around 07:40 am, reporting that an unidentified individual, initially thought to be a female, was found motionless along the Katampe-Mabushi expressway.
A team of detectives was dispatched immediately to the scene. Upon investigation, it was discovered that the person was a man dressed in female clothing with no identification on him.
He was transported to Maitama District Hospital, where he was pronounced dead by doctors on duty.
The Commissioner of Police, FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, has ordered a thorough and discreet investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death to ensure justice is served.
