The Anambra State Police Command, in conjunction with the Joint Task Force, has successfully recovered three unexploded improvised explosive devices and two abandoned vehicles during a recent raid on a criminal hideout in Ihiala.
The operation, which also uncovered various dangerous materials, was confirmed in a statement issued by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, on Saturday in Onitsha.
Ikenga pointed out that the joint security forces conducted the operation following extensive intelligence gathering.
The criminal camps targeted in the raid were located in the Lilu, Mbosi, and Isseke areas of Ihiala Local Government Area.
The successful operation resulted in the discovery of three unexploded IEDs, highlighting the potential threat posed by the criminal elements operating in the region.
The PPRO also relayed the message from the State Commissioner of Police, Nnaghe Itam, who commended the operatives for their efforts and urged them to maintain the momentum of the ongoing operations.
The commissioner reassured the residents of the state of the commitment of the police and other security agencies to maintaining security and preventing criminal activities.
“Two abandoned vehicles, some explosives materials like copper wires, fuel and other dangerous materials were recovered,” Ikenga said, emphasizing the significance of the items seized during the raid.
The successful operation is seen as a crucial step in disrupting the activities of criminal groups in Anambra State and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
