The Bauchi Police Command has arrested five individuals, including a woman, for criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property.
According to The PUNCH, the Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil the suspects, aged between 27 and 31, were found to be involved in selling stolen tricycles in Bauchi State.
He said, “We have recovered seven stolen tricycles, popularly known as Keke Napep, and preliminary investigations have revealed that the female suspect, Maryam Ibrahim, has sold approximately seven stolen tricycles within Bauchi.”
Wakil emphasized that receiving stolen property is a serious offense, punishable under Section 427 of the Criminal Code Act in Nigeria, with imprisonment of up to fourteen years.
“We appreciate the support and cooperation of the community in providing valuable information that led to the apprehension of the suspects,” he added.
The successful operation was made possible through credible intelligence and the hard work of the State Intelligence Department of the Bauchi State Police Command. The suspects will face prosecution for their crimes.
