The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended five people known as the Shila Boys, a notorious group involved in robbing residents of their possessions, particularly phones and other lightweight gadgets.
The arrest was confirmed in a statement issued on Wednesday by the spokesperson for the State Police Command, Suleiman Nguroje.
The suspects, long sought by the police, were captured during routine operations targeting criminal hideouts and black spots such as Yola Market, Wuro Hausa, and Damare in Yola Town, Yola South Local Government Area.
“Those arrested were on the wanted list of the Command for Shilla gangsterism. They are currently under investigation to ensure that the law takes its course,” the statement said.
The command has called on the public to assist in the fight against the Shila Boys by remaining vigilant and reporting any suspicious activities to the authorities.
“If you see something, say something; and the police will do something,” the Command said.
