The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended four suspects in connection with theft in separate incidents, recovering stolen items worth thousands of naira.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed that operatives from the Idanyin Division arrested a suspect identified as Sadiq Adebayo for allegedly stealing burglary proofs from an uncompleted building in the Imutu Ayanre community.
According to the community chairman, Yekinni Wasiu, the suspect was caught dismantling the burglary proof of a neighbor’s property.
“The chairman reported the incident on December 29, 2024, after Adebayo was caught in the act,” SP Odutola said.
She added that during questioning, Adebayo admitted to stealing similar items in the past and selling them to a scrap dealer, Abdullahi Sulaimon. Detectives reportedly recovered some of the stolen burglary proofs from the scene, leading to Sulaimon’s arrest.
In a related incident on the same day, a man named Seun raised the alarm after spotting another suspect, Adekoya Odunowo, carrying a sack filled with electric wires suspected to have been stolen.
“Investigations revealed that Odunowo had stolen six weight moulders used for block moulding from three block industries along the Ilisan-Ago-Iwoye expressway,” Odutola explained.
The weight moulders, valued at N150,000 each, were allegedly sold to a scrap dealer, Rabiu Ismaila, in Idode, Ago-Iwoye. Both Odunowo and Ismaila have since been arrested, and the stolen items have been recovered.
Assuring the public of swift legal action, SP Odutola stated, “The suspects will face charges in court as soon as investigations are completed. Updates will follow in due course.”
