The Independent Electoral Commission’s Ad-Hoc staff who were kidnapped in the early hours of Saturday in Imo State have been rescued by operatives of the Imo State Police Command.
According to Vanguard, the state’s INEC authorities confirmed the development.
The 19 INEC Ad-Hoc staff were abducted on their way to seven different polling units in Ugbelie ward 06 in Ideato South LGA of Imo state, as stated by officials.
INEC spokesperson, Chinenye Chijioke-Osuji said, operatives immediately took action and successfully rescued these ad hoc staff after a distress call and receiving information about the incident.
Chijioke-Osuji revealed that, although the abducted staff were rescued, none of the election materials, which include BVAS and sensitive materials, were recovered.
