The Katsina State Police Command has achieved significant success in its fight against kidnapping and banditry, rescuing 516 abducted victims and arresting over 500 suspects between January and June 2024.
According to The PUNCH, the command also recovered a substantial amount of weapons and rustled animals from the criminals.
The recovered items include one General Purpose Machine Gun, eight AK 47 Rifles, one English pistol, over 700 rounds of live ammunition, and 2,508 rustled animals.
During the same period, the police received approximately 300 reports of banditry-related cases and charged 480 suspects to court. Notably, no female suspects were among those arrested.
The data also shows that about 300 cases related to banditry were reported to the Police from January to date.
Similarly, about 480 suspects were charged to court. No woman was among the suspects.
The representative of the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, his 2i/c, ASP Shehu S. Funtua, said, “Most of the time, they are in numbers, not gender.”
