As Nigerians head to the poll today, Saturday, February 25, for the crucial Presidential and National Assembly elections, major roads have been deserted as the police enforce the no-movement order in Ogun and Lagos States.
Punch Metro quoting the Independent National Electoral Commission reports that 87 million Permanent Voter Cards were picked up prior to the general elections.
According to the INEC Chairman Mahmood Yakubu in a briefing in Abuja on Thursday, Lagos leads in the number of collected PVCs with 6,214,970, followed by Kano with 5,594,193, and Kaduna with 4,164, 473.
Nigerians will be electing the successor of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd) with the trio of Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party, and Peter Obi of the Labour Party, coming up as front runners.
Meanwhile, a police roadblock was spotted by The Punch’s Segun Odunayo at the Isheri read of Lagos State around 7:10am on Saturday.
This is just as Femi Daudu captured the deserted ever-busy Long Bridge which linked Lagos and Ogun States.
