The Katsina State Police Command has issued a stern warning, threatening to arrest any individuals participating in the ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria nationwide protest, now in its fifth day.
According to The PUNCH, this announcement was made by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Abubakar Sadiq, on Monday.
Earlier, Punch reported that the Katsina Police had implemented a ban on protests and enforced a curfew across the state. ASP Sadiq reiterated that the Katsina State Government’s ban on all forms of protest, unlawful assembly, and the imposition of a curfew remains in effect.
According to Sadiq, a 24-hour curfew is in place in Dutsinma Local Government Area (LGA), while a 12-hour curfew from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. is enforced in the remaining 33 LGAs of the state.
“This measure aims to prevent further escalation of violence, vandalism, and looting of private and public property, and to maintain public safety and security,” Sadiq explained.
He emphasized the Command’s commitment to enforcing the ban and ensuring that peace and order are restored in the state.
He urged residents to cooperate with the police and other security agencies in this effort.
“We call on the good people of Katsina State to continue to cooperate with the command as well as other security agencies in this effort. Your understanding and compliance are crucial to maintaining the safety and security of the state,” he stated.
Sadiq also appealed to parents and guardians to advise their children and wards against engaging in illegal activities and to encourage them to remain law-abiding citizens.
“We encourage everyone to remain calm and go about their lawful activities within the confines of the law, as we will not hesitate to take decisive action against anyone who violates this ban. Let us work together to ensure peace and stability in Katsina State,” Sadiq concluded.
