The Borno Police Command has reported the discovery of six projectile grenades in the Ajilari Cross area of Maiduguri, believed to have been abandoned by terrorists.
The Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawal, revealed this development on Saturday in a situation report to the News Agency of Nigeria.
According to Lawal, the grenades, found on Friday, were examined by the Explosive Ordnance Device team, who determined that they contained incendiary chemicals.
The area was thoroughly screened, and the grenades were safely recovered, ensuring the location is now secure.
He said, “In a separate incident, 20 suspects were arrested for burning tyres and inciting disturbances in Maiduguri.
”They are currently under interrogation and investigation for transparent prosecution,” he said.
Additionally, a violent confrontation occurred in Bassam Galomari Village, Gubio II Ward, involving Fulani herdsmen and a local farmer.
The conflict arose when the herdsman’s cattle entered the farmer’s land, leading to a confrontation during which the farmer was attacked and both his hands were injured.
The victim is receiving treatment at a hospital in Maiduguri.
Lawal emphasized that security agencies are actively addressing these incidents to maintain public safety and prevent further disturbances.
