The All Progressives Congress Secretariat in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, has been sealed off by police and youth protesters for the fourth time, escalating tensions within the party.
According to the Nation, the closure occurred ahead of a scheduled meeting by the State Working Committee led by Comrade Austin Agada.
In addition to the Agada-led meeting, another caucus meeting, organized by the Benjamin Omakolo-led faction of the APC State Working Committee, was also planned for Thursday in Makurdi.
Both meetings are reportedly aimed at finalizing preparations for the upcoming Local Government elections in the state.
The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission has set October 5th as the date for the Local Government polls.
An APC member, speaking anonymously, described the situation as “deeply concerning” and expressed frustration over the persistent closures of the party’s Secretariat.
“This ongoing feud is damaging our party’s image and could have serious consequences as we approach the elections,” they stated.
