The Independent National Electoral Commission’s office located at Takai Local government area of Kano State has been set ablaze by suspected political thugs.
It was gathered on Sunday, that the incident occurred due to yesterday’s elections collated in different areas of the state.
Meanwhile the New Nigeria Peoples Party, in its swift reaction, condemned the action while blaming the ruling APC of unfortunate incident.
The NNPP spokesman, Alhaji Sanusi Nature, while speaking on phone said, “We wish to condemn in the strongest term, the APC’s unpatriotic act of arson, by setting ablaze the INEC office in Takai Local Government area of Kano State.
He stated further, ” The APC is all out to destroy collation processes and declaration of results after realizing the potentials of the NNPP at the polls yesterday”.
“This unpatriotic attack on the electoral umpire came at a time when collation was at 85 per cent completion today by 11.00am”.
“The security agencies shall as a matter of urgency swing into action to curtail the occurrences of such incidences in other locations”.
All efforts to get official reactions from the Public Relation Officer of INEC in Kano ended in futility as calls put across to him were not answered or returned.
However, it was gathered that the allegation was baseless and lack any iota of true to corroborate the claims.
The Nation reports that the NNPP was use to unbelievable clsims, therefore this is to tell you that the APC was responsible for crisis that led to the setting ablaze of the INEC.
Also, the Police Relationship Officer of the Kano State Police Command, SP. Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa couldn’t be reach for his reaction.
