The Corporate Affairs Commission has announced an extension of the mandatory registration deadline for Point of Sales agents, super agents, and sole agents to September 5th, 2024.
According to The PUNCH, the decision, conveyed in a statement signed by CAC management and shared on their official Facebook page on Saturday, grants a 60-day extension.
In the statement, the Commission acknowledged challenges faced by operators, especially those in remote areas encountering network issues, prompting the extension.
It emphasized the importance of compliance, warning that operators who fail to register by the new deadline risk losing their businesses and facing prosecution for facilitating criminal activities.
“The initial deadline of July 7th, 2024, for the registration of sole Agents, Super Agents, and Agents has been extended to September 5th, 2024,” the statement read.
“This extension aims to provide ample time for operators, particularly those in remote areas with network challenges, to complete their registrations and continue operations.”
The Commission reiterated the consequences of non-compliance, stating, “Operators who fail or refuse to register by the extended deadline risk losing their businesses and may face prosecution for aiding and abetting criminal activities.”
This extension seeks to ensure thorough compliance across the board, enabling all stakeholders to continue their operations legally and securely within the fintech sector.
