The Ogun State Police Command has revealed that Raheemat Ogunbunmi, the pregnant woman reportedly kidnapped in Abeokuta’s Ijaye area while en route to the hospital, fabricated the abduction story.
Spokesperson for the State Police Command, SP Omolola Odutola, disclosed that Raheemat was located in Kwara State with her father after being tracked down by the Command’s anti-kidnapping unit.
Odutola disclosed on her X handle that the woman concocted the abduction narrative to avoid her husband’s anger following a miscarriage.
“Raheemat’s husband, Lateef Ogunbunmi, had alerted the Kemta Divisional Police Headquarters after receiving a message about her supposed abduction,” she said.
“She planned the stories, she travelled to Kwara State herself, she was far from kidnap. She had a miscarriage, frustrated due to repeated reoccurrences, feared her husband’s reactions, she orchestrated the script. Anti-kidnapping team had started tracking her, till she showed up. She is under medical attention, safe,” Odutola explained.
