The Chief Executive Officer of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, has revealed that WhatsApp recorded 25 million messages per second during the World Cup final on Sunday, the highest ever.
He made this known on Tuesday via his verified Facebook account, also confirming that Lionel Messi’s World Cup picture on Sunday is currently the most liked post in Instagram history.
The Tech CEO wrote, “Leo Messi’s World Cup post is now the most liked in Instagram history. WhatsApp also reached a record 25 million messages per second during the final.”

The 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup, played in Qatar, was an international football tournament contested by 32 teams from five confederations.
During the tournament, a total of 172 goals were scored, marking a new record for the tournament. The highest ever goals to game ratio was set during the 1954 World Cup in Switzerland, where an average of 5.38 goals were scored in each of the 26 games.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup final had a total prize pool of $72 million. The Argentine team received the highest prize in the competition of $42 million, while France went home with $30 million.
