Music lovers and fans of international Nigerian singer, Rema, has taken to social media to react to the recent message of the singer to Iranian girls who were detained for dancing to his song.
The Iranian ladies were detained by the Iranian security agents after they had uploaded a video of them dancing to Rema’s ‘Calm Down’.
According to Fox News, Security forces started seeking for the five females soon after the video, which was taken near Ekbatan, west of Tehran, acquired popularity online.
The detained ladies were accused of not wearing headscarves, which are obligatory for women in Iran, when the video was uploaded on International Women’s Day.
Reacting to the development, REMA through used his Twitter page to express his inspiration from the girls and other Iranian women who are fighting for a better future.
He tweeted, “To all the beautiful women who are fighting for a better world, I’m inspired by you, I sing for you, and I dream with you.”
Reacting to Rema’s message to the ladies, @RareAmsg, tweeted,”Thank you for your support! It means a lot.
Please inform Selena about this situation. She has been silent the entire time! We need people like her to be the voice of Iranian women! Her platform and her words can have a huge impact on making awareness.”
