The House of Representatives on Wednesday honoured the late Sokoto lawmaker, Abdulkadir Danbuga by adjourning plenary early.
The Deputy Speaker, Ben Kalu adjourned the plenary on Wednesday after a brief tribute in honour of the lawmaker.
The 63-year-old lawmaker had reportedly passed away in the early hours of Wednesday.
Ahmad Kalambina announced the death of Danbuga in a letter addressed to the House.
While speaking on the death of the lawmaker, Kalu said Danbuga died despite the resources and effort spent on winning his election.
He said, “Look at his toil to win the election. His toil to represent his people. All that money, all the effort, all that energy going down the grave today. It is sad. It is sad for the family, it is sad for the nation.”
The National Assembly has a customary practice of adjourning plenary whenever a member dies.
