In an unfortunate turn of events, severe flooding has struck the Warri North Local Government Area of Delta State, leading to the displacement of residents from five riverine communities.
According to The PUNCH, this was disclosed by the Councillor representing Ogbinbiri Ward 18 in the Asigborodo Community,Mr. Kenren Pere.
These affected communities include Torukubuagbene, Awanba, Koropigbene, Itagbene, Asigborodo, and neighboring clans. The flooding crisis, which began over a week ago, escalated significantly by Friday
“Though, rain has been falling before, but we have not had it so bad like this,” he stated.
According to him, residents can no longer go about their normal daily activities to feed, “so there is hunger in the affected communities.
“Many valuables including local boats, clothes, food items, and other means of livelihood have been destroyed by the unfortunate occurrence.
“Lives are at stake; people can no longer go about their normal daily activities to feed, so there is hunger in the affected communities.”
