The Redline train, a new rail project by the Lagos State Government is scheduled to kick off later in 2023, however, preparations have begun in earnest to actualize the delivery date, as citizens have spotted a set of 21 unassembled cars in the Marina corridor of Lagos.
Photos of these cars were in circulation on social media, on Tuesday, as they were seen transported to be coupled and retrofitted in preparation for passenger operations from Marina to Agbado in the first quarter of 2023, as promised by the Lagos State Government.
In September, The Managing Director, Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority, Abimbola Akinajo, said the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Red Line rail system will carry its first passenger in the first quarter of 2023 when it is projected to commence passenger operations.
The PunchMetro reported that the Red Line is a 37-kilometer rail road from Agbado, Ogun State to Marina in Central Lagos but its first phase, Agbado to Oyingbo, is due to be completed by the end of the year 2022 and passenger operations are expected to commence within the first quarter of 2023.
