Ebere, the sister of a businessman from Lagos named Amarah Kennedy, who is accused of sharing naked pictures of two single mothers he dated, has denounced his behaviour.
According to The PUNCH, Ebere, who travels frequently, claimed Kennedy had defamed their family and pleaded with the state’s law enforcement agencies to find him and take him into custody.
She said she publicly disowned him owing to his allegedly criminal conduct, while she denied any involvement in the victims’ ordeals.
According to reports, Kennedy, a former banker turned businessman, was accused of going public with the naked images of at least two single mothers he had dated in the past.
Kester and Temi, both of whom go by their first names only, met him on separate occasions on social media and fell in love with him when he promised them marriage and lavished their children with gifts.
But when they had a falling out, he showed them their naked pictures and demanded money, threatening to make them go viral until they paid up.
He uploaded the pictures on Facebook and WhatsApp despite receiving N140,000 from Kester, a widow, and N15,000 from Temi.
The 44-year-old was furious and vowed to further harm the women’s reputation when this reporter released a special report on the incident on Sunday.
He then posted Kester’s nudes on his office’s social media profiles and the WhatsApp group for her church.
He also showed her late husband’s family the pictures.
While reacting, Ebere stated that that Kennedy had no excuse for his action, adding that his defence of keeping money with the women was “a lie.”
She said, “The first time one of them told me about it via Facebook, the first thing I told her was to take it to the police. I said report him.
“The conversation I had with him (subsequently) was that I had given the lady the go-ahead to arrest you since you want to be an animal. That was what I told him. I told him he would get arrested because he kept doing the nonsense.
“I am a woman myself; if somebody did that to me, I would also be traumatised because my kids would grow up to see that. Taking the screenshot and sending it to him was to tell him I wanted him arrested since he wanted to be stupid and act like someone that is not human. I told the lady that if she needed money, I would send it to her to get him arrested.”
According to the suspect’s sister, she cut off all communication with him and blocked him on all social media sites “because he keeps bringing a bad image to the family; I don’t want to be associated with him.”
Ebere also acknowledged that two women had complained to her about him for alleged blackmail on Facebook.
She claimed that she publicly disowned Kennedy not long after she started a Facebook chat with one of the ladies.
“I posted it on Facebook and I even tagged him that nobody should associate me with this animal. That was what I said. I want people to know that I have no business with him again.
“I reported him to everybody in the family and they talked to him. But he kept denying it. But I am glad it’s out there now. Even though it hurts my family, he should be arrested and dealt with.
“It’s unfortunate I am related to him. After everything, the family has done for him. See, I am telling you 100 percent, he should be dealt with so he does not have to try this nonsense anymore,” she added.
While separating the family from Kennedy’s action, Ebere said that their elderly mother was suffering as a result of the situation.
Kennedy’s aunt, Joy Lomu, claimed she thought he was under a spell and noted that he had been out of work for some time.
He reportedly completed his studies in accounting at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
Lomu said, “When I saw the news in the papers, I was ashamed of myself. Not even for him. I was ashamed. What he has done is not good. I must speak the truth because if I were the one, I wouldn’t be happy.
“The Kennedy I know is not even working. We send him money sometimes. He used to work with a bank. The problem with him is juju,” she added.
Recall that the Lagos police command had asked Kennedy to visit the command headquarters to clear himself of the allegations against him.
