The Rivers State Police Command said it has rescued a kidnap victim at Emohua Local Government Area of the state.
Disclosing this during a press briefing at the state Police Headquarters in Port, the Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Nwonyi Polycarp, said the rescue operation was carried out by the Command’s operatives in collaboration with members of the Emohua Vigilante Security.
According to him, The victim was tracked down to a forest near the Choba Bridge, along the East-West Road, where she was found safe and unharmed.
Meanwhile, he explained that the kidnappers, sitting with the police, managed to evade arrest by fleeing through the river.
According to him, the rescued victim was kidnapped on June 26 at around 7:50 p.m. while travelling along Salvation Ministry Road in a black-coloured Lexus 330 Jeep, which is yet to be recovered.
However, he assured the general public that efforts are on to retrieve the stolen vehicle, noting that the victim has been joyfully reunited with her family while also pledging the Command’s relentless pursuit to apprehend the criminals behind the act.
“Our resolve to combat crime remains unwavering,” Commissioner Polycarp declared.
“We encourage anyone with credible information to come forward and assist the Command in our efforts to maintain peace and security in Rivers State,” he stated.
