An unidentified soldier has reportedly fatally stabbed a nightclub bouncer on Monday night in Bonny Island, Rivers State.
The altercation began when the bouncer, Kingsley Abbey, conducted a routine search on the soldier at the club’s entrance and discovered a dagger on him.
When Abbey prevented the soldier from entering, an argument ensued, leading the soldier to retrieve the dagger.
Upon hearing about the incident, the victim’s wife, Diepreye Abbey, searched several hospitals but tragically found her husband deceased when she finally located him.
It was reported that the mother of four wept overwhelmed with grief uncontrollably upon seeing her husband’s lifeless body.
According to her, “We were checking all the hospitals to find out where they kept him but we didn’t see him.
“At last there is a place called Macurly, that is where I found him. When I got there my husband was already dead.
“I started crying and I asked what happened. They now told me that a uniformed man came to the club where he was working.
“As he was searching him, checking him all around, he said you cannot enter. From there the problem started. They said the man stabbed him,” even as the mother of four insisted on justice for her late husband.
“I need justice for my husband. I have four children. Who will train them? I’m not working for now. I need justice.”
Upon contact, Rivers State Police Command spokesperson Grace Iringe-Koko verified the incident, stating that an investigation had commenced to establish the sequence of events and identify the perpetrator.
A Police Superintendent, Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident based on information provided by the Divisional Police Officer, emphasizing that the assailant’s identity remains unknown.
The ongoing investigation aims to ascertain the identity of the individual responsible for the crime.
“Once we can get the identity of the person, we will take it up from there and ensure that the necessary procedure is followed.”
