Real Madrid is reportedly targeting Manchester City midfielder Rodri as a potential replacement for the retiring Toni Kroos.
The 34-year-old German midfielder, considered one of the greatest of his generation, will retire following the European Championship in Germany next month.
Kroos, who has had an illustrious career, will play his final club match in the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund on June 1 at Wembley.
Replacing Kroos will be a significant challenge for Real Madrid, but Rodri could be a viable option.
The Spaniard has been a key figure for Manchester City since joining them four years ago.
According to Tribal Football, the La Liga champions are interested in acquiring the 27-year-old.
However, any transfer could prove difficult, given Rodri’s contract with City runs until 2027. Another potential candidate mentioned is Bayern Munich’s Joshua Kimmich.
Rodri, valued at €110 million by Transfermarkt, has scored 26 goals and provided 30 assists in 256 appearances for City. During his time at the Etihad, he has secured 11 titles, including a continental treble last season and four consecutive Premier League titles.
Both Real Madrid and Manchester City have enjoyed successful seasons. Los Blancos have claimed the Supercopa de España and La Liga titles, while City has won the UEFA Super Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, and Premier League.
As the season draws to a close, both teams are still in contention for more silverware.
Real Madrid will conclude their La Liga campaign at home against Real Betis on May 25 before facing Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League final.
Meanwhile, Manchester City, fresh off their unprecedented fourth consecutive Premier League title, will compete against Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley, seeking to replicate their 2-1 victory over their rivals in 2023 final.
