Russia reported on Monday that it had intercepted and destroyed 39 Ukrainian drones targeting its border regions overnight.
According to the Russian defence ministry on Telegram, the anti-aircraft systems successfully neutralized 19 drones over the Kursk region, nine over Belgorod, three over Voronezh, and five over Bryansk, all of which are near the Ukrainian border.
Additionally, three drones were taken down in the Leningrad region near Saint Petersburg, described as an “attempted terrorist attack.”
“The anti-air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 19 drones in the Kursk region, nine above Belgorod, three over Voronezh and five over Bryansk,” all bordering Ukraine, the Russian defence ministry said on Telegram.
Ukraine has frequently launched drone assaults on Russian fuel depots, refineries, and energy facilities, especially in the border areas.
In retaliation, Russia has carried out extensive strikes on Ukraine’s power infrastructure, leading to significant electricity shortages in recent months.
