Veteran Fuji musician King (Dr.) Saheed Osupa has ordered the withdrawal of the legal case filed against controversial singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, citing compassion and public appeals.
The lawsuit, which was originally initiated by Osupa’s management, centered around allegations of intellectual property theft, defamation, and online misconduct by Portable.
According to Osupa’s team, the legal action was not born out of personal vendetta but aimed at promoting discipline and accountability within the entertainment industry.
However, in a surprising development, Osupa has chosen to discontinue the legal battle after receiving pleas from notable figures, including Alhaji Ahmad Lawal, CEO of Lahmad Concepts; Saheed Ibile, CEO of Harmony Holdings Ltd; Alhaji Fatai Lajero, representing the Olufimo Royal Parliament; and Alhaji Waheed Ogunsesan, National President of the Olufimo Fans Club.
“While justice and accountability are important, so is mercy. Leadership sometimes demands that we show compassion, especially when it offers someone a chance to change,” Osupa said in a statement issued by his management.
The decision also comes amid Portable’s reported struggles in meeting bail conditions following his arrest and arraignment by the Kwara State Police Command.
Despite dropping the case, Osupa has laid out specific conditions for peace to be maintained. These include a retraction of Portable’s statement suggesting Osupa should be held responsible for any harm that might come to him, as well as a public confession that claims made by Portable’s lawyer, Chief Barrister Isaac Adebayo—particularly about Osupa allegedly being begged on his knees—were false.
Osupa’s camp emphasized that the Fuji legend never even met with Portable during the ordeal.
Additionally, Portable is expected to sign an undertaking to refrain from further acts of cyberbullying, defamation, and character assassination.
“Let this serve as a turning point for him,” Osupa’s team stated. “We are hopeful that Portable will take this opportunity to reflect and grow, both personally and professionally.”
The statement also warned that failure to meet the stipulated conditions could result in the revival of the legal action.
